What to Bring & How to Prepare for your Session
The most important thing you can bring to a session is a simple openness to receiving. You don't need to believe in energy healing for it to work — you just need to be willing to let your body take it in. Wear comfortable clothing, arrive with a loose intention if you have one, and know that whatever happens in the session is exactly what needs to happen.
Every body is different. Every session is different. That's not a limitation — that's the point.

A Reiki session at The Rooted Self is a gentle, fully-clothed energy healing experience designed to help your nervous system settle, your chakras rebalance, and your whole self feel grounded again. Using light touch or hovering hands, healing crystals, and intuitive chakra work, each session is tailored to what your body and energy field need in that moment. Optional Palo Santo or sage smoke can be incorporated for deeper energetic clearing, and every session closes with the resonance of a sound bowl moved gently along the body — a final invitation for your energy to fully settle. Most people leave feeling lighter, calmer, and more rooted in themselves than when they arrived. No experience necessary — just show up.

New clients will complete a brief informed consent form — a simple, straightforward document that covers what energy healing is, what it isn't, and what you can expect. It's not therapy, it's not medical treatment, and results vary from person to person. No surprises, no fine print — just clarity so you can show up feeling informed and at ease.
As we get set up, we'll take a few minutes to check in. How are you feeling? What's coming up for you today? Nothing heavy — just a moment to arrive and orient before we begin.
Before the session starts, you'll be invited to set a simple intention of openness — something as easy as silently saying to yourself "I am open to receiving this healing." That's it. You don't need to know what you need or have it all figured out. Just a quiet willingness to receive is enough.

Most sessions take place lying fully clothed on a comfortable massage table — soft blanket optional, always available. If lying down doesn't work for you, sessions can also be offered seated. Wear whatever feels comfortable and easy to relax in. You will never be asked to remove clothing.
Soft music plays throughout the session to help your nervous system settle. Some people drift into a deeply relaxed state. Some notice sensations. Some simply rest. All of it is welcome.

Every session begins with grounding — a grounding stone placed between your feet to anchor your energy, and a crystal at your crown to open an energetic channel from earth to sky. From there, Jessie will check each of your chakras using a pendulum, intuitively identifying where energy may be blocked or stagnant. Healing crystals are then placed directly on the chakras that need the most support, while Jessie works through the body's full energy field — clearing stagnant energy with slow, intentional movements from head to toe.
The Reiki itself is delivered through light touch or gentle hovering — whichever you prefer. Before your session begins you'll be asked about your comfort with touch so that every session feels completely safe and tailored to you. Some people feel warmth. Some feel tingling. Some feel a wave of calm wash over them. There's no wrong way to experience it.
If you'd like, Jessie can incorporate Palo Santo or sage smoke for additional energetic clearing — just let her know your preference. Sessions close with the gentle resonance of a sound bowl moved slowly along the body, inviting your energy to fully settle before you return to the world.

There's no rushing out the door here. Once the session closes, you're welcome to take a moment to share anything that came up — or simply sit quietly and let it settle. Refreshments are always available — water, tea, coffee, cocoa, and a light snack — because sometimes you just need a moment to come back to yourself before heading back out.
